Wine Tour through the peninsula of Pelješac

Join us on the exquisite wine tour which takes us over the sea and through the hills of peninsula of Pelješac where you will be able to experience an unique touch of the nature reflected in the taste of the beautiful wine. Peninsula of Pelješac has been famous for wine growing for decades. It stands as the symbol for the top quality red wine in the whole Croatia and even Europe because of its authentic grape varieties that are found here.

It is the home of Zinfandel, one of the most popular grape varieties which grow on its steep slopes that are constantly exposed to the pleasant rays of Mediterranean sun. Our trip starts in Gradac in front of the hotel from where we will be departing around 8:30 and heading straight to the harbor of “Ploce” with our Mini Bus where we will get on the ferry that takes us to the Peninsula of Pelješac. Ferry will take us to the small town of “Trpanj”, where our journey will begin. (There is also a possibility of going straight to Trpanj from Gradac with hotel owned speed boat which is reserved for the smaller groups.).

Driving through the peninsula of Pelješac we will expose you to the history of wine growing and making of wine by taking few stops and taking you on the walk through the villages and actual vineyards where you will get all the knowledge of wine growing and how it was done back in the days comparing it to the modern ways of producing the wine. You will learn all the popular facts about the wine tree and the grapes which will let you know how the certain wines get their authentic flavor and what are the impacts on it. From there we will proceed to the “Matuško” vinery, and continue our journey by visiting the “Bartulovic” vinery where you will taste the authentic varieties grown in Pelješac and some of its neighboring islands and will be shown the difference between the commercial winery and the family owned one.

Our Journey will also end with a traditional Dalmatian lunch at the “Bartulovic” family estate which is located in the rustic surrounding of the old village. This traditional lunch is one of the kind and unforgettable gastro – enological experience where you will be able to feast in some of the best local delicacies and drink as much as the wine you want to. If the weather allows we will stay for a swim after the lunch on one of the nice beaches of Pelješac.
